Boring life update:
In my saga of trying things out to control my colitis, my gastroenterologist suggested nortriptyline a couple weeks ago. Nortriptyline is traditionally used for depression, but since one of the side effects is constipation, they also use it for IBS/IBD.
I took it for 4 nights, and on the 4th night, I barely got any sleep cause I was itchy. I got out of bed the next morning and had a rash on my face and red splotches all over my body.
I've heard enough ads listing "signs of an allergic reaction" to know that that was definitely one. Thankfully it never got past that. I got rid of the stuff and need to call his office either today or tomorrow.
It's not worth risking anaphylaxis, but I'm a little bummed cause it was actually starting to work on my symptoms.
Anyway, I hope I can get it sorted out soon. I'm going on my very first solo vacation in April, so I can't afford to not be feeling good!

I'm glad that the reaction wasn't any worse - I hope the doctor can switch you to something that works without the side effects!
