I think that a lof of the people here have become so busy (with both fun and unfun stuff) that it's difficult to do.

Maybe there's something else we could do for the season that would be fun and less of a time committment.

Yeah, what they said. It being the same three people participating every year was one thing, but the flake PAIRED with the few people just kinda soured it.
We could do a card exchange only, if anyone would be interested?

I'd be interested in a card exchange, too. Maybe that's just how it should be done from now on. XD

You want Gundam? This is how you get Gundam.

Jeff Bezos in San Diego: To Save Planet, ‘Move All Heavy Industry into Space’

And when I say "you get Gundam", that includes fanatics who want to force all human life into space in order to keep the Earth as a sacred preserve.

But seriously, it's inevitable. Virgin Galactic, SpaceX, and others are successfully commercializing space travel and eliminating the government bottleneck, and we will have the rest of the basics — skyhooks*, inflatable habitats, asteroid mining, microwave and/or laser transmission of power — within the century.

* Space elevators are the old standard, but skyhooks achieve the same thing with much less up-front cost. We might graduate from skyhooks to elevators some time later.

Well, here we go again. My PC crashed and now the only option available on a f4 boot is to reset the computer and lose all data. (Normal booting hangs after entering in password.). Now typing on toy tablet. Misery.

Edit 1 - I was able to f8-boot and get into safe mode. Now running SFC/scannow. I will see if it restores the PC's mojo.

Edit 2 - I finished SFC/scannow and rebooted. I got past login but I get a blank screen with a movable curser arrow. I guess I can work in safe mode until tomorrow.

Edit 3 - Six hours in. I think the problem was with firefox . I uninstalled it in safe mode and was able to boot. But when I restored Firefox things went sideways again. I uninstalled it again and was able to boot again. Now doing a virus scan. Tomorrow I will try reinstalling Firefox and refreshing it to factory settings and then see if I can reboot.

Edit 4 - day two - I took the laptop to the shop. They said it was presenting as a hard disk problem. They will know maybe by Saturday if the data can be saved. Now I am curious if there are cyber cafes near me since using a browser on a tablet is (by design) torture trying to get people to by expensive apps for every website.

Anyone else having the site hang for a while (or take a very long time to load) after clicking on a thread?
I'm talking 10+ seconds before the page loads. It's seems random, one minute I have the issue, the other I don't.

Just want to know if it's something on my end or not.
