If your diet is going to include a staple grain, rice is arguably the best one to have. It includes a VERY digestible form of protein, making it somewhat more nutritious than wheat and much more nutritious than corn.
Also, despite the hype, brown rice isn't really that much better than white rice in a complete diet. It does contain trace amounts of fiber and minerals, but it's also harder to digest and it spoils more easily. So if the rest of your diet is healthy — lots of fish, eggs, and pickled vegetables — then the trade-off isn't worth it.
