I don't know how I managed to miss TU's neural net post for 11 days, but I'm glad I didn't see it before now, because it brightened up an otherwise stress-filled and infuriating day.

Despite the crappy directions and getting turned around for a bit, we made it to the ODAR about 25 minutes before I was asked to be there.
Used the restroom, went upstairs, did the security check, and just after I had finished signing in...
My attorney walked up and asked if I was [insert real name]. Of course, I didn't know it was him until he introduced himself. I've only spoken to him on the phone one time.
Went over some stuff before the hearing, waited around a bit, and then went in when they were ready.

I won't go into anymore detail than that, but we talked a bit after the hearing.
He said I did pretty well; meanwhile I'm sitting across from him in a conference room trying not to lose my crap. :mikihead: He was pretty easy-going.
Should probably be about 3 to 5 months before I get a decision back, but since I got my hearing way sooner than they originally said, it might not even be that long!

It didn't even take that long but I'm honestly exhausted.

That sounds exhausting!

Janelle Shane's most recent bonus material (for a post where she generated fake news stories) has an AI-generated article titled "Lifehack: Make a House out of Ketchup Packets," which includes the following suggestions:
The ketchup packets have two names: One that only you know, and one that everyone else knows but you don't know until you test it. How about "Poppy Toast Cookies"? And "Feta Cheese Wedges?" Now everybody knows about you but your archenemy, the Acorn of Baggura.
Use the back of the mold-resistant ketchup packet to draw a map, include neighborhood landmarks like milk containers and frozen bananas, then make a poster by blending the packets with moldy wallpaper.
If madness made us strong, we would all be invincible.

Speaking of ketchup packets, when my sister was in high school, she got a couple of Kmart-branded ketchup packets from the Kmart cafeteria and made earrings out of them.

How long did they last? It's too easy to imagine one of them bursting open on a hot day! XD

I don't think she kept them very long, but I honestly don't recall. This was over thirty years ago.

Hey, Cel...

Image

I realize they don't have Winn-Dixie in Michigan, but it definitely hasn't been discontinued.

Looks like Dorian is supposed to hit Florida as a cat 3 storm. Cool, great, awesome. :|
My brother signed up for Disney's "hurricane ride-out" crew, and usually they'll give cast members/their families/pets a place to stay, but since there's no guarantee that he'll actually be asked to help out with that kinda thing...
We have one way in and out out of the neighborhood. We've already had a lot of rain this summer, and the road will flood if another couple feet gets dumped. Not to mention we'd have no electricity, either.
Brother did find a villa that's still around that area; the plus with that is those places usually have generators. My dad's on the phone with the mortgage company to see if he can work something out, cause without some kinda break, we can't go anywhere.

Honestly, I'd like to move to Arkansas, for more reasons than one. They might get tornadoes, but that's still better than a hurricane imo.

The price in that photo is double what I paid at my usual stores, when those stores stocked it. Like I said (emphasis added)…

Celedam wrote:As far as I can tell, Swiss Miss Simply Cocoa is being either repositioned as a boutique product or discontinued altogether. Most stores in my area no longer stock it, and the few that do have doubled the price on it.

It used to be priced the same as the regular product, which didn't make sense if it was made with higher quality ingredients, but I wasn't going to look that particular gift horse in the mouth. Now the price is double, and moreover, I really don't like the store I must go to in order to buy it.

So yeah, technically speaking, it's still available and it's still cheaper than going to Starbuck's or Panera Bread. But the weird joy of it — the feeling that I had discovered some kind of lifehack — is diminished.

(all this wailing and gnashing over a cup of hot mocha…)
