If I'm understanding the news correctly, she's running as a Constitutional Democratic Party candidate for the House of Councillors in the national proportional representation block. She's got her sights aimed high. This isn't some rinky-dink local office. The House of Councillors is the upper house of the Diet, so in American terms, she's running for the Senate. がんばって！
