Peacocks can get kind of aggressive! :fear:

I’m not sure if it’s an east coast thing or a New England thing, but when we say going down somewhere it usually means going up. Not sure why. But it’s typical slang for our area and outsiders can sometimes be really confused by it.

^ Lol, the 'Laz was making a joke about a really old Stephen Foster song. Foster was a mid-19th century composer of minstrel pieces, and along with "Old Folks At Home," shown below, also wrote the classics "Oh, Susanna!" and "Beautiful Dreamer," plus about 200 other lesser known songs. Musically he was the Tsunku of his era, but he died impoverished in New York's infamous Bowery at age 38.

Yes, of course. :hehe:

(It's really only a couple miles away. If I had brought a swimsuit and didn't have an infected toenail, I'd be heading to Suwannee Springs during the afternoon!)

For some reason (even though I'm quite familiar with the song, and I know it's just the name of a river), the mention of Suwannee rang a rather unsettling bell in the back of my mind. Then I remembered the more-than-a-little-bit unsettling opening to Robert W. Chambers' ahead-of-its-time-dystopian and thoroughly creepy The Repairer of Reputations. :fear:

Looking forward to watching fireworks at the National Mall this Thursday even though it's probably going to be insanely busy. I went there a few days ago, and there were sooooo many tourists now that it's summer (even though it was like 95 degrees out). I live here now so I'm allowed to be annoyed by them. The lack of skyscrapers here really makes me miss Chicago though.

Got home a little before 8 this evening. Not too bad considering we left at around 3!
If it weren't for the fact I need to talk to my pain doctor about some things and get RX refills, I would cancel and stay in bed tomorrow. :mikihead:

I feel a lot of emotions, lol. Like, I'm glad to be home and sleep in my own bed on my own pillows, but...
I felt so much joy and warmth and kindness while I was away. It's hard to put into words, honestly.

Sometimes a group event like that can be very intense and moving!

I'll probably go out on my front lawn and watch fireworks - I get a decent view of three or for displays, and I can avoid the crowds.

Speaking of crowds, I thought about going to Anime Expo for at least one day, but the last time I went, the crowds (and the lines to get into anything) were

I know that I'll regret not going, and I still might go, but the truth is that as wonderful rich as so many anime series are, I don't feel like I've got the attention span or the emotional perspective to even read the funny papers right now - which is definitely my problem.
