I was in the hospital for two nights (12/27 and 12/28). I got discharged on Saturday morning, which just so happened to be my mom's birthday.
Started in the ER. They did lab work and stuff, sent me for a CT scan which showed some "thickening" at one part of my appendix. They admitted me overnight so they could do another CT scan (after drinking some dye) and do more tests.
Surgeon looked at the second CT and said my appendix is fine, there's no infection! Ended up spending another night while they did more labs and tested stool samples for bacteria/parasites.
Aside from being chronically anemic and having slightly low potassium, my labs came back fine. I also tested negative for anything bacterial, and they found no parasites.
Still don't know why my stomach has been giving me problems, but they think it was a perfect storm of having a viral bug, a UC flare, and added inflammation from my cycle.
I am doing better since I got home. Stomach is still a little iffy, but not like it was last week.
At least I got this checked out before the first of the year.
Wouldn't have liked
that bill.
