I got into a teaching residency program in DC, so I might be moving there next summer.

I love Chicago, but I've always wanted to live on the east coast for at least a while.

The good news: my iPad charger didn't die like I thought it did. That's $19 (plus tax) I won't have to spend to replace it.

The bad news: all of the electrical outlets on one side of my kitchen are dead, and the usual fiddling with GFCI buttons and circuit breakers didn't work. Now I have to make another maintenance appointment, during what is already a busy week for me.

YouTube is really turning up the heat on the frog pot. First it was six-second ads (or ads skippable after six seconds), then two six-second ads back to back, then unskippable 15-second ads… Anyone want to start a pool for when we'll get two unskippable 15-second ads back to back?

I saw a box on an upper shelf a few minutes ago and pulled it down to see what was in it - it turned out to be my old marble collection (including some nice classic glass pieces, and even a few clay pieces, along with all of the generic mid-century cat's-eyes).
So in case anybody's been wondering - no, I haven't lost my marbles. I know exactly where they are.
My sanity, of course, is another story completely. I haven't seen it in so long that I don't even remember what it looks like.

It depends if Article 13 really goes through and the EU gets effectively kicked off YouTube. Then they might have to have 30 second ads...

I'm in Minneapolis, and at about 20 degrees F and with some snow on the ground, it actually feels like real winter. It's been like 35-45 degrees in Chicago for the past 2 weeks or so, and that's just kinda weird for December. Looks like a snowstorm is coming through Minnesota in a few days though.

And here in Southern California, it's the usual sunshine and palm trees - only with very unholiday-like rain scheduled for tomorrow.
