I’m heading home today. From Mexico to NYC, I had one hell of a trip full of great times and experiences. It’s back to work for me Monday. My legs are sore, throat scratchy and I’m tired. But I wouldn’t change it for the world.
I love meeting my fellow H!P fans. If you haven’t had the chance to get to an international event, do it! It’s the best time. :)

I wish I could've gone to NYC, but it was great meeting you in Mexico. Did you manage to do much sightseeing while you were there? I hit a lot of the highlights on my 2015 trip, but I did Teotihuacán and the Blue House (Museo Frida Kahlo) this time around.

Thanksgiving is so much work. My roommate and I are doing dinner and inviting a bunch of people. Even getting and carrying grocery home was tiring.

I haven't even thought about our Thanksgiving dinner, though one of our neighbors was kind enough to give us a turkey!
My brother has work on the actual day, so we're planning on doing the meal on Friday. He'll have to be responsible for buying any sides.

In my experience, roasting a turkey is kind of an adventure. Cleaning up after it is more of a.... misadventure. XD

I’m doing the turkey this year for the first time. I stuck it in a brine last night. I’m also doing the stuffing and two sides. Everyone else is bringing something. It’s easier than having to do everything. Wish me luck. Go time starts tonight and early tomorrow morning.

Today is going to be hectic. We got invited to our cousins football game at Fenway. It’s a big deal for the kids so of course we’re going!

Good luck to you, and to all of the Jplop turkey-cookers (and vegan/non-turkey chefs) this year!

I usually get together with some friends in Berkeley for Thanksgiving, but this year I'm going out of town to my cousin's house, so in addition to the standard turkey etc., there will also be an assortment of Armenian sides and appetizers. :)

Almost 100% guaranteed to be there:
pilaf (absence of which would be a deliberate attempt to make me unhappy)
"penerlee" (i.e. peynirli börek: fried, cheese-filled pastry)
yalanchi sarma (stuffed grape leaves)
lavash (flatbread)
basterma (cured meat)
string cheese
turshi (pickled vegetables)
