Perfume is coming to NYC, Toronto, Chicago, Dallas, Seattle, San Jose, and LA next spring: link.
I didn't like their latest album very much compared to like everything else they've released, but I've only listened to it once. The ticket prices are a little higher than I'd like... BUT the Chicago venue is convenient for me to get to, so I'd save on transportation, I guess... I'll consider it.
I haven't listened too much that Perfume has done in quite a while, but that's just random lack of attention on my part. The prices for the L.A. gig seem OK, and I'm tempted...
If madness made us strong, we would all be invincible.
This song was running through my head, and as usual, I found myself thinking about just how great Yuki Hsu was, and what a rotten deal it was that she had been sidelined by legal disputes with her former management (with a short comeback in 2007, followed by more legal trouble). Then I checked Wikipedia and found out that she had done a comeback concert in Taiwan earlier this year, and that she had been performing apparently off and on for a while (there's a 2015 TV appearance on YT), so maybe she'll be able to get her career going again...
From a recent show:
And more vintage Yuki:
The unashamed, don't-give-an-f tackiness of so much of her early material makes it just plain fun to hear and watch...
Yuki Hsu, Tarcy, and early Huang Fei are the main reasons why I consider Rock Records in the mid-late 90s to have been one of the all-time great record labels, one with its own very distinctive sound, look, and style.

The latest PRODUCE group, IZ*ONE, just released their "debut" track:
I actually really like it. It's the first PRODUCE title track I've liked to date.
I can't stop listening to it. It's probably the strongest Produce 101 song to date.
Speaking of Produce 48:
The Produce 48 Senbatsu pv was released today from AKB. I like NO WAY MAN well enough (I've liked 3 singles from them in a row - TEACHER TEACHER, SENTIMENTAL TRAIN, and NO WAY MAN - which is unheard of) but this song just hits me right in the feels. I fell in love with so many of these girls in Produce48 and it's so nice to see them all together again. I'm not the only one who thinks so, the thing almost has 1 million views in A DAY. ALSO CHIYORRIIIII
The song is alright, I like it pretty okay. The styling is really good and it looks like an H!P PV haha
NO WAY MAN for reference (Has the top 20 Produce 48 girls in it)
People are talking about how AKB is trying to become more "KPOP" now, but to me it just looks like they're trying to come for H!P's brand.
the artist list for the waste of time and slowly dying Kouhaku has been announced. For artists who are lonely and have no party to go to on New Years eve, and old people still watching Kouhaku at home.
^ Beat me to it. I've felt that Nakata's production style has in recent years been adversely affected by trying to keep up with Western styles like Skrillex's, so it's nice to see him returning to more of his classic (well, KPP era) idiosyncratic style. Wish he'd do the same with Perfume; it's been a minute since I've really dug one of their singles.
Tsuribit, the fishing themed idol group, have announced their dissolution. After 6 years the group will cease activities following the release of their 11th single and a final concert in March.
