To me, the messy jumping fits quite well the song. The whole melody is creating some sort of "unease" feeling to me (probably because there are lots of "creating momentum" sections that finish in another "creating momentum" or just a very quiet phrase... but never finalizes as a strong chorus) that is amplified by the lack of synchronization in those jumps / random movements in the "loneliness / get me out of here" verse. I am also having some trouble differentiating chorus from the rest of the song... it is like they broke the usual H!P song structure.
But, yeah, I am probably overthinking and/or letting my OCD getting control of my thoughts.
