Whether they count sales together or not, this is gonna show if Berryz and C-ute fans/buyers are the same (in which case the single will sell 20K) or if they're different persons (possibly selling 40K or at least more than 20K) ...

Actually, the preposition "in" is used with seasons, as it is with other units of time one week or longer (in the third week, in September, in 2011, in the 1960s, in the 13th century). "On" is used with days and dates (on Friday, on the 29th, on September 1, 1939). Either "on" or "in" is used with parts of days, depending on how they're modified (in the afternoon, but on a sunny afternoon or on the afternoon of the 29th). You could say, "on a bittersweet spring day" or "on a bittersweet spring morning," but "on" goes with "day" and "morning" in those cases.

So it should be "In a bittersweet spring, the sakura blooms."
