Yes. In my opinion, even then. They didn't get the exact emotion right but knowing that particular lyric is about an upleasant emotion is more informative than not even knowing if it's about an emotion, a potato, or yesterday's newspaper.

I understand where you're coming from, but I still disagree. Feeling "depressed" (or "down" or whatever) is a completely different feeling than being "anxious". It doesn't really convey the same thing, or what they're trying to get at. It stood out to me too, since it seems rather out of place given the rest of the song.

And again, my point is that the reason you get to be annoyed because you already know it's "wrong," so actually the flawed translation doesn't mislead you after all, it's just an annoyance. Meanwhile the people who are actually being misled are totally in the dark about the extent of it. But they still know the song's about the perils of not planning ahead and that's more than what they knew just hearing "Ta Toe Way!"

It's not so much that aspect of it -- it's more the bad English and the gobbledy-goop "sentences" they come up with at times. Yes, I'm annoyed because I know it's wrong, but it shouldn't even be quite this wrong in the first place.

Some of the time I see them textbook translating things, where if they'd put any effort in they could have had something that sounded "better". Going back to Nen ni wa Nen, the line "anata wa junbi taisei bantan?" is literally "are you completely prepared?" but thinking outside the box a tiny bit, I think they're going for something closer to "can you really expect the unexpected?". That's entirely a nitpicky thing, though, but it would be nice to see even on occasion.

Pretty much every subtitled movie you ever saw or translated book you ever read has some portions where the translation doesn't quite catch the nuance, and may be totally wrong. As I'm sure you're aware from experience, even English subtitles in English movies omit shit all the time (deliberately!) and occasionally will completely get a phrase of dialog wrong by accident. But people still use the subs with their muted TVs while yakking on their phones -- despite knowing the agonizing reality that subs provide a degraded experience!

I'm totally aware . If it's slightly different, sure, whatever, but something things are just so incorrect that it's infuriating. I experience it often with anime subs -- even professionally done ones (looking at you, Funimation). My least favourite thing is when they try to "Americanise" things like "itadakimasu" or whatever ("rub a dub dub thanks for the grub!"), but eh.

Yes, I know a lot of it is me over-complaining. But their standards are just too low. I mean shit, "Magnoria" Factory? It's right fucking there in their logo as "Magnolia" Factory! C'mon!

I wonder if the ideas for the ads come from not only management, but from the girls as well. The things they want the highlighted girls to be known for. I wonder that because going for having Kid Fans really fits Sakura's personality, I could see her paying younger fans extra attention or wanting to be a friend/sister figure to them.
