yeah I don't think people know that this is a cover/rearranged version of an old song.

It's not an old song if it's released in 2015 (literally this wednesday). The song was specifically made for 1 scene in the film, which yeah, people don't see that.

And technically, it's not a cover, just their version of the song. They have to promote the movie one way or another since it comes out this weekend...

This is like any Disney movie release wher they release a pop version and a version used in the movie.

What I don't get is the concern over youtube comments.

The song has a very specific purpose: It's a tie-in with a movie of an anime catered to young girls.
I'm sure those young girls aren't the ones making comments on youtube. I know some anime use some edgier sounding music for their opening or ending theme or whatever but this song fits what the anime seems to be all about (I have no idea what its about so I'm just guessing)

I think this is a good break for Morning Musume to reintroduce itself to mainstream media. Remember that once upon a time, they did do a cover of a Hyokkori Hyoutanjima and that was aimed at kids too. It's also time for Morning Musume to get new fans in the children who will come to know them through this tie-in.

If someone showed me a video of a young Japanese child running away in terror when they see the MV, then I would be concerned. But that's not gonna happen.

Clearly this is a different scenario from Pyoko Pyoko Ultra. But give it two weeks for the other MVs to come out and they wont have any backing to make those comments. And plus its youtube. I don't take youtube comments seriously ever. Most people who troll youtube are either immature or just plain ignorant.
