Because it they were initially selling it to just the fanclub members and local buyers, to those who didn't attend the concert in New York. It's also cheaper to produce DVDs nowaday.

But a agree with you. They should have done it region free.

Most PC DVD drives are able to switch to any region. Put in a region 2 disc and it'll prompt you if you want to change. You can only switch back a and forth a few times though, so it's really only a long-term answer for you if you don't intend on using region 1 DVDs on your computer.

I just use the VLC player. It don't care what region you are.

I tried installing that, but I failed to understand how to make it work.

I only have like 1 region 2 DVD of a group i'm not too obsessed with, so it's not like I'm that desperate for it. But I'm pretty sure that I will in the future.
