this is what I meant in one of my posts a while ago.

I think one of the problems of the platinum era was that they were too "versatile" and didn't necessarily have a direct, mainstream, appeal, or unique trait beyond their evolutionary concept. I think that's one of the successes of the EDM era, is marketing to a younger audience through modern music and constantly releasing such music to maintain such an audience.

I do love J=J's 100% fresh concept for each single, but I'm also guilty of wanting another "Romance no Tochuu" and Watashi ga Iue Mae ni" over songs like Black Butterfly. Especially since I didn't enjoy their past 2 singles as I would've liked to.

^I think we all just see J=J as more of that Jazzy-type because of their first few singles, and frankly, the girls work quite well with that style of music... xD

I don't know why, but I like Saki's version over Ai-chan, or even Ayaya's.

Maybe because Captain's singing ability improved about a thousand percent on the sly? Why didn't she eventually take over the 4th (or 3rd ) girl spot, Tsunku?? You're gonna have a lot of explaining to do to future generations forced to listen to Yurina's wounded giraffe and Momochi's rabid chipmunk tearing jagged chunks in the aural landscape of otherwise great songs like "Cha Cha SING."

Captain is like Mizuki: they're not the strongest or most technically skilled singers, but they have very pleasant voices that are more enjoyable in the long run.

In contrast, Sakura is a strong singer and Riho is technically skilled (because she's received extra training in order to be the center), but I don't find their voices as enjoyable.
