I don't really like using idol nicknames, unless said idol has a super common name or the fandom seems to refer to them exclusively by their nickname (Hamachan, for example). The only exception is Konkon, because I've been calling her Konkon for about ten years . Usually, if anything, I use their surname.

Some nicknames are kinda dumb or don't really work (Daisaku, lol) but... that's Tsunku for ya.

Firsthand report from MM 12th gen handshake event. Asked Ogata Haruna to make funny face; said she'd gotten an NG for doing that from staff.

Zukki said at today's event that Ogata Haruna gives off the same kind of vibe as her — she found this out by doing a bit of net patrolling. Meanwhile, Oda & Fuku-chan said they didn't know what Zukki was talking about. Guess they haven't googled it yet.

some fans at the handshake events today asked Sakura what nicknames they started calling Nonaka Miki, Sakura said "Chelsea", "Chell"

さくらちゃんが突然12期メンバー野中ちゃんのお話をしてくれて、
野中ちゃんは娘。オーデの履歴書にチェルシーが好物と書いていたらしくそれ以降、
娘。メンバーはみんな野中ちゃんのことを「チェル」と言う愛称で呼んでます！
ってお話を楽しそうにしてくれましたｗｗ

チェルシーが金属探知機にひっかかった知り合いさくらヲタのせいでチェルシーの話になり、チェルシーに関連して野中ちゃんの話にもっていってくれたさくらちゃん。チェルシーで握手券消費させてしまってごめんなさいってペコペコさくらちゃんが可愛かったので幸せです

It probably doesn't hurt that its a very American sounding name so it may also be a double innuendo/riff on that.
