"To Morning Musume. '14, and the graduates,
Are you sending love off to the world this summer too? I know (though) that all of you are always smiling and working hard. Music is strange, isn't it. It's very powerful. I've been able to experience all of that, thanks to having worked with all of you. I'm dealing with my illness now, but because of that I also feel the power of music even more so than before.
My children are growing more and more each and every day. They all love music and Morning Musume, so whenever there's a new song out, they listen to it on repeat over and over and memorize both the song and dance. Just watching them do that makes me feel more energetic. I can't really explain it, but it just feels "great." We can't do much more than creating music and express it, but if that makes it a bit easier for people who have it hard, there's nothing that would make me more happy than to be their support. So, please do your best today, Morning Musume. '14 and graduates.
I'm always excited every year to know that I'll get to hear "Dekkai Uchuu ni ai ga Aru", which was released 13 years ago. And Joshima leader is running now, I'm sure. He's basically the same age as I. That's amazing. I'm sure all the field workers out there get courage and energy from watching it. I'm rooting for you to get through all of it.
Tsunku."
- Joshima leader referring to Shigeru Joshima, leader of TOKIO, who was the chosen marathon runner for the charity this year.
