You can change the titles on iTunes though. And any tagging information, for that matter.

You never sync your iPhone/iPod with iTunes on an actual computer?

I do, but whenever I do it, it deletes all the non-purchased songs (aka downloaded, like the satoyama & certain berikyuu song) and screws up my playlists.
Therefore, I don't sync ever.

I can't see it for myself so I'll take your word for it, but it shouldn't do that if your sync settings are correct. I have a huge library of purchased, legally ripped, and not-so-legally downloaded songs, and I never had problems with a straight sync. I started having problems only when I activated iTunes Match, because it can be difficult to get your local changes to overwrite the iTunes Store defaults. (The benefits outweigh the problems, though.)

Well, i just tried a sync, and it synced my ITUNES playlists to my ipod. luckily i synced not long ago, so i only had to add 4 songs back in.
I see that syncing that way transfers the new names over, so i'm going through all the songs on my LAPTOP and changing them to what I want.
...It didn't delete the not-so-legally downloaded songs this time, which is weird because it normally does.
How do you sync playlists from the Ipod -> itunes though?

Frankly, I don't know. I've never used the "On the Go" playlist features.
