I wouldn't say it's their ability that's stopping them from having harder dances; they're all very capable dancers. Some weaker than others, some very strong, yeah, but they're all capable of doing something more challenging, and doing it well. Golden Chinatown and Sayonara Usotsuki no Watashi had pretty good dances in my opinion, definitely stronger than some of their previous routines, and they said themselves they worked hard on the synchronicity for these. However, the next single's dances seemed weaker, and now it's like the choreographer's tried something a bit out of the box and a bit weird, but for the most part, it's just not working that well.

Anyway, I'm hoping that with them having only recently recorded the MV for Diet, they've had chance to practice synchronising better; to me it looked like this dance needs to be synched well to look good and in the performance we saw, it just wasn't.

When I first heard Tokai no Hitorigurashi I thought "man, why can't Berryz get stuff like this?", so I'm quite pleased

No but the choreography should still be good. Berryz quite frequently have these weird/unimpressive dances. Diet's dance is just not good. There's some good moves (the up and down things they do together comes to mind) but for the most part they have really weak dances.

Well for now,we'll just have to deal with it. It is not like they can just replace the dang lady. Atleast we know all seven of them work hard.

I think they're just trying to give them their own style of dancing within H!P. MM=Cool, C=sexy, S=quirky(? or fun?), and JJ=Classy(?).
I get the impression they're going for a bit of a performance art kind of thing or something.

I don't think the dance is bad, but it most definitely has weird parts to it, like Motto did.

It could just be one of those boring PVs without a dance shot and basically just a bunch of solo and group close upa. You guys would still complain, right? It's not even easy finding a new choreographer. It's not just a "We'll just have an audiion". They have to be promising and be able to tell these girls what's up.
I'm not complaining about just one dance, it's many dances coming one after the other. I don't expect them to scout out new talent to teach them either, though I'm sure UF has worked with/hired other choreographers in the past, and they probably have at least two on regular staff right now. It would just be nice to have one new dance that I didn't personally find awkward ("ROCK Erotic" and it's guitar spanking, "WANT" being filled with weird hand movements, etc).

I haven't seen enough of the new dances to comment, so maybe there will be improvement (for me) this time around.

^ Group itself overall has been a mess. The songs are all over the place. It's like both UFA and Tsunku don't know what to do with them.

Sayonara usotsuki was good. But in general, I feel that the dances (Chinatown dance was good) don't go with the songs they get. It feels in a way as though they're trying to ride the cool-wave that's going on in H!P right now, but at the same time keep their "Berryzness" by giving them simple/fun dances and together it just doesn't work. Having a few members that don't seem to give a fuck either, isn't helping.

cha cha SING worked for them. Happy songs work. It's not my cup of tea everyday of the week, but at least they do it well and they look good doing it. Stick with it.

Those are my favorite parts of both of those dances :mikihead:

That's how they've always been though. A consistent sound has never really been their thing.

Yea but just because they are doesn't mean that's a good thing.

wotakubrandon: I don't like the weird hand movements at all so I'm out on that one, but I could have gotten into the guitar/spanking move if it were done with... more attitude or something (the execution is more my problem with that one, I guess).
