The third season of Mnet's "Superstar K" will hold auditions in various cities overseas, including Beijing, Tokyo, and New York City this June.

The third season of the popular television program, Mnet's "Superstar K", which is modeled after America's "American Idol" will soon hold audition sessions in Japan's major cities Tokyo, Sendai and Osaka, as well as Beijing and New York City next month, in June. Auditions for local talent are currently being held in eight locations around Korea.

On Tuesday, Mnet confirmed, "'Superstar K' will hold auditions in Japan, China and the United States this summer to select contestants for the third season of the talent show."

Director of "Superstar K", Kim Ki Woong, continued, "We launched 'Superstar K' in order to give a aspiring talents an chance in the music industry, mostly comprising of people who have wanted to sing professionally, but do not have the opportunity to do so otherwise. We decided to provide these services so that people can participate more easily."

Last season's "Superstar K" produced such talents as John Park, a Korean-American who went on to appear on "American Idol". And the eventual winner of the program, Huh Gak, a ventilator repairman, became a household name.

Participants in each city be judged through a in a two-part screening process. Those participants in Korea and Japan who pass through the initial screening process will compete against one another in the third round. And those who make the cut will then compete in a fourth and final screening against participants from New York and Beijing.

The winner will be entitled to a cash prize of $500,000, concert opportunities and a recording contract.

The popular Korean music TV program “Superstar K” will be opening up its third season auditions to non-Koreans who want to try their hand at K-pop.

The program, which looks for undiscovered talents, is similar to programs like “Britain’s Got Talent” and “American Idol.”

Originally, “Superstar K” only accepted Korean participants, but as their international profile grew, so did the potential pool of talent from outside the peninsula.

The program announced on May 11 that it will hold “Superstar K World Super Tour UCC” video auditions from May 20 to June 30, along with audition sessions in Osaka, Tokyo and Sendai in Japan, along with New York and Beijing, in June.

Online applications can be made by uploading a video clip to Youtube.com by June 30 and registering at http://www.superstark.co.kr/worldtour.

After screening by official judges and netizens, one candidate will be invited to come on an all-expenses paid trip Korea to participate in the third round in Seoul in July.

The show’s final winner will receive prize money of 500 million won, along with an opportunity to release a record album.

today, all the girls appeared on their Ustream show and simultaneously on Nico Nico. they announced they have changed their umbrella name to UP-UP GIRLS (Temporary). the group name is still not final, so they may change it again. They also announced another one of their events at Tokyo FM hall on 8/20 for their 8th, 9th, and 10th event
