Morning Musume。 song for J-MELO (NHK) - Press Conference

This morning a special press conference has been held on the studio of J-MELO to announce the special collaboration project between the show J-MELO of the Japanese Channel NHK World and Tsunku♂/Morning Musume。.



First part: presentation of J-MELO



J-MELO is a famous television show about Japanese Music which is broadcasted on more than 140 countries all over the world on NHK WORLD. The name "J-Melo" comes from the words: "Japan", "Melody" and "Mellow".

Morning Musume。 and many other Japanese artists have been presented like this and many documentaries show Up-Front Artists (For example: Morning Musume。 and ℃-ute in Paris, LoVendoЯ in San Francisco, etc.).

Some weeks ago, to celebrate the future 400th edition of J-MELO, fans from all over the world answered some questions about love. J-MELO received more than 700 messages from 60 countries.

Tsunku♂ used all those messages to write a new song for Morning Musume。 and this song will become the ending song of the show J-MELO from October to December!



The 400th edition of J-MELO will be broadcasted on November 4th (Monday) at 00:10AM (JST), don't miss it!







2nd Part: artists and their collaboration with J-MELO



Of course Tsunku♂ came to face the press but Sayumi Michishige (Morning Musume。), Dave Spector (a famous American "TV talento" and producer) and May-J (Singer and Host of J-MELO).

All gave their impression about collaborating for J-MELO, which means collaborating with fans from all over the world.

They are really happy to see that Japanese music has no border and with this show and when there is a documentary on a different country, every time they can check that Japanese culture and music is famous all over the world.



Following this, Tsunku♂ talked about all the messages he received to create his future song. It was interesting for him because there were lots of different answers so it has inspired him a lot.

Then he has been asked if there would be a single release for this song and he answered this is still in discussion but this is a probability. The song name is "What is LOVE?"

So you can expect a nice song with lyrics written thanks to all the messages received from J-MELO viewers.

Sayumi said that even if there is a barrier of the language and culture, they can still enjoy altogether. She wants to go to many countries for lives.

i kinda want this to be related to a single but i wouldn't be surprised if they were intending for their next single to be released in january.

i hope the song has a nice hook so it wont get boring easily over that 3 month period. actually excited and glad for the collaboration. thanks j-melo.

Sayu says the dance choreography is intense. it was difficult to learn at first but it became more fun. it also has dance formation. they want to send the song's positive message to the World.

Tsunku teases the press saying he might release the single in some way but has no plans to release an English version.

モーニング娘。が歌う「What is LOVE?」は、番組の10月～12月のエンディングテーマとして使用される。シングル化や英語verの制作について、つんく♂は、「なんらかの形ではリリースする予定ではあります。英語verに関しては予定はないんですが、今、（英語verの質問を受けて）「あり」だなって思ってしまいました。」と、会場を笑わせた。

The song sounds good. I hope the choreographer for these things moves away just a little bit from awkward hand movements for the next single.
