It's a bit farfetched to claim album sales aren't important, to H!P groups maybe but only because we've been so used with the heavier focus on singles and events promotion etc

Album sales is still a decent enough measurement for success, otherwise many artists who thrives on it and considerably less so on the single charts wouldn't be able to get by. We should always take into account the different approaches/focuses of those groups in these kinds of discussion but personally this is one area where I would love to see H!P/UF to be getting better at. Preferably soon-ish.

As much as I love the girls and watching the making of video on this album, there's only so much such short dvd extras could do to carry the album and I think I've made my indifference towards the rearrangements pretty clear before.

I wouldn't call it a disappointment or an embarrassment per se, actually it kinda falls in line with my own expectation but yeah... couldn't wait for the day to come when H!P's album sales are at least as good as their main singles. Next <original> album please...

They promoted this more than they had an album in a long time. But it still lacked. A PV for the album, and a performance at at least one show should have happened. Maybe for the next one.

Still good though, their sales are going up.

@RPB: I agree that album sales are somewhat important, but I meant more that comparing album sales of MM。and other groups is kind of... not really. I'd rather they just beat their personal bests than sell more than other groups (even though I want them to do that too), if that makes sense. Personally, overall fandom enjoyment of a release is more important to me than sales.

And people tend to forget that MM。outsell pretty much 95% of idol groups when it comes to album sales (not counting *48, mind you).

As to the second part, the guy stated his disappointment about the album sales. It's his opinion, not his "problem." It's unnecessary, counterproductive and pointless to turn it into a personal attack on him.

I dunno, I just find it silly to be "embarrassed" by their best album sales in years. Just because they haven't outsold a couple of other idol groups doesn't render the whole thing a disappointment.

Frankly, it underperformed.
I expected 20k or more but not less for first week.

I'm stil happy that the album is the highest in sales in a long time though.

And this is a best of nevertheless. Not an original album.
We'll just see once the 14th album comes out.

Morning Musume got beat by an anime drama CD. an anime that just came out a few months ago. Morning Musume should have at least beat #3 or #4. come on, the DOOR WAS WIDE OPEN!

Also the anime only ended a week ago. Like, a day after the drama CD came out. And I don't get your point, because the best selling anime releases at any given time (especially music wise) are always currently airing anime....?
