Sayu has come very far. She's really earned her lines. First she was god awful. I hated her solo in Platinum 9.
Then she was Robo Sayu and really caught my attention in songs like Fantasy ga Hajimaru.
Then we got to the Sayu we have now which is sometimes Robo sometimes not but always sounds amazing. I love lalalala no pipipipi and her Aruiteru sounds amazing from the preview.
So she did ask for more lines and slowly she got them, but she also earned them. From the sound of it you have to improve in order to have your request granted and it pushes them to work harder.
Sayu was complaining about lines after Resonant Blue and she got like a short line or two by Naichau Kamo and I think a few lines by Nanchatte Renai if I remember correctly.

I don't think Sayu has improved too much. I mean she's clearly better than she used to be but I feel like she's about the same as she was in the Platinum era which is still not too great. But like Rika and and Risako she's definitely become capable and of course they've found a sound that works wonders with her singing.

She hasn't improved AMAZINGLY much. But from 2009 until today, she still has improved a lot. Which is the weird thing, considering she "should have" reached her best already having been in the group for so long. But she keeps improving even as she gets past her 20s. Tsunku writes about it a lot too lol. It's quite surprising imo.

Sayu will never be a good singer, but recently she has become a STABLE singer - which, in a lot of ways, is super important.

I think Sayu's voice has become very trained in a way too, like her natural voice was never a talented one, so she worked hard at everything else that goes into singing. I remember hearing and reading many times where the younger girls boast of her timing and rhythm. Singing is one part what your born with and one part training. Or at least that's what I've always thought.

I'd say for Tsunku it's close to the most important thing.

Really? Stable? She still sounds shaky and tone deaf in lives to me..honestly people who are kidding here
. I mean sure i like the girl and all and she really has improved...but to consider her a performer? Sure. A Good singer? Definitely not. Decent singer? I don't think so.

It's all relative. Compared to how she was when she was younger, she is much stronger and more stable now.

Well yes stronger and more stable than before, but by no means a stable singer now. I'm not denying her improvement by any means though and I'm not knocking the girl for what she does at all

You're conflating "singer" and "performer". She'll never be remembered as a singer, of course, but she is an excellent performer. She knows what her strong and weak points are, and she has rigorously developed her skills to highlight the former and conceal the latter.
