Maybe that's for the best. His earlier work was truly incredible, but recently he's become more political and his work has become less resonant because of it.

I guess he has chosen the right time so he won't make a failure in the future, and thus to maintain untouchable the spirit he's created with his works.

Even so, for me he'll be one of the bestestestestestestest for long. An yeah, I haven't seen all his works either :P

That's pretty sad - but he had an amazing run anyway, and has been working for a long time. He deserves it.

This means it will be even more exciting if his name pops up on smaller (or large non-film) projects in the future.

Nausicaä is great. I might watch it again soon. I also really like Laputa and Kiki's Delivery Service.
Honestly, there are a ton of movies of his I still haven't seen. I know what I'll be doing this weekend!

I haven't seen many Ghibli/Miyazaki movies, but my favourite is Ponyo. Which says something XD.

Ponyo is near the bottom of what he's done, in my opinion. A lot of color and motion to appeal to young children, but not much else.

I've seen:

Laputa: Castle in the Sky -- probably my favorite
My Neighbor Totoro
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away

Okay, far less than half like I said earlier, but I was thinking of the just most popular ones. :hehe:

I've only seen Spirited away which I barely remember, and Nausicaä. Lalala.
I do want to watch all of his works at some point though. xD

I've seen Howl's Moving Castle, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Spirited Away, all of which I liked.
Which means that there are a lot more that I need to watch.

I have Mononoke Hime on VHS, unsubbed. I should just watch it. XD
