YAY!! TWO DAYS IN AND ALREADY 105 THOUSAND GET'S!
The only reason I was really hoping for higher numbers is that I want UF to feel that the higher marketing budget for this single over previous ones was really worth it in a way that the bean counters could immediately recognize. For example, if they spent the equivalent of an additional 2500万円 (US$250K) with all those billboards, free appearances, MSta etc., and each CD nets them 1000円 (US$10) in profit then they would eventually need to sell 25,000 more just to break even in the first instance. Of course, it's more complicated than that because CDs are themselves a promotional tool to draw in fans. If they know that each CD buyer eventually represents approximately an additional 500円 in ancillary sales (concert tickets, merchandising, etc.) then, even with just 20,000 more CDs sold than before they will have made 500万円 in additional profit after marketing expenses. All these yen estimates are totally pulled out of my ass and therefore completely useless but this is the kind of thing that keeps me up at night in cold sweats. Warm me up, Sayumi-dakimakura-chan!
