I can see it now. The media will start using 「モー」as a symbol for Morning Musume, just like how （仮）has become Up Up Girls' mark.

That newspaper article highlighting the "mo" katakana is nothing more than for the sake of a pun.

I think its easier to make pun with the "mo" katakana than the 娘。kanji.
