ahh if they're covering old songs it's gonna be a WITCH HUNT. the general int j-pop fandom will definitely drag the girls (but they don't really matter anyway) I wonder how Japan will react. I really hope they avoid remaking MM's most well known and popular songs like they did for Dream MM, Morning Coffee was the only one that slipped through.

^Technically that Morning Coffee had a rather different arrangement (the other songs on the album had the same arrangements as the original versions IIRC), a different name (Afternoon Coffee) and was by a subunit (Afternoon Musumeδ) for a CM. It had never been released prior to that album (as far as I'm aware), so I guess they put it on there so people got to hear it since the members were all in DMM。anyway. I'm assuming it exists because of the CM company (Coca-Cola Japan) rather than UF.

So, like, I don't really count it as a Dream Morning Musume。cover in the same sense that the other songs on the album were.

Well shit, I totally forgot that existed. I like to pretend Morning Coffee covers never happen, so yeah. My bad.

It was rearranged more than the other songs, though, I think.

I think its more likely that it will be a best of album of just their recent stuff.

Having the girls sing re-arranged songs of classic tracks would contradict the idea that these girls are different from the OGs. But conversely, re-arranged songs would be an interesting way to establish this.....

I'm guessing it will be exactly like °C-ute's Shinsei naru album. Recent singles (maybe with modified vocals) + old favourites with a new arrangement and new vocals.

You know what they should do?

They should get fans to vote on what songs they should cover. And the 15 most voted songs get on the album. That way the more popular songs (amongst fans anyway) get on there. Which would make it sell more. And then have a 16th song that's an original one.

Didn't they do that for Fankora? Not again please.
Sometimes too much fan input is just as bad as too little, I'd rather they choose to cover songs which they already had a good idea how to rearrange it for the current members than bending over themselves catering to the whims of the fans.
