I just found out about Balance and Ruin: Inspired By Final Fantasy VI, a fan-made (mostly) electronic remixes and interpretations of FFVI music (you can download the entire thing from the site). I love FFVI and FF music in general, and this album is pretty cool. There's an electronic remix of The Prelude in disc 4. There are so many gems in the album, like the one based on Searching For Friends (the theme when you're on the World of Ruins map). I still need to listen to the whole thing. The opera sounds pretty good, even though the lyrics seem random. The second part must be majorly inspired by Bohemian Rhapsody.

I'm really hoping to get to go to a Distant Worlds orchestra concert one of these days. There's one in Montreal this December that I'm considering, and then there's one in Portland, OR next April. Hopefully more future dates will keep popping up.

Hearing them perform it confirms beyond a doubt for me that picking Momoiro Clover Z to do the theme song for the new "Sailor Moon" series was an unfortunate mistake.
