I do wonder why they're switching from UStream to YouTube. I guess because C-ute already have a presence at YT? Still seems a bit odd for the company to put their assorted streaming shows on a couple of different hosts. Granted, one could claim that they're opening themselves up to different markets, but I really don't think that anyone's going to not watch just because it's being streamed on a non-YT open-access site. Maybe YT gives them a better statistical breakdown of the audience?

Here's what I said on the other site…

Celedam wrote:Perhaps YouTube / Google approached them. In the realm of Japanese channel pages, H!P's channels actually get quite a lot of hits, and out of H!P's channels, ℃-ute's gets the most. Perhaps this was a beta test of some kind, and YouTube / Google wanted a respectable but not overwhelming server load.

Maybe, but it's not like other celebs don't do live streams on YouTube. Hell, the president has held conferences on it! C-ute's ~10k viewers shouldn't really cause any strain to their servers, much less overload anything, I would think.

I dunno. Looking at recent YouTube live streams, they seem to be getting more technically ambitious. Simulcasting an existing cable channel or pointing a single camera at a podium is easy. Mixing multiple cameras and sound tracks in real-time and then sending it out to a worldwide audience is a bit harder. And doing it in the U.S. is not necessarily the same as doing it in Japan.
