Sayumi sounds pretty much the same to me. She's clearly improved but not enough to where is worth discussing. Not like say, Risako who used to be equally but differently horrendous but now kills it. Sayumi does have a better tone IMO. I'd listen to Sayumi sing something before Chinami. I prefer Maasa on the can't sing scale though. If I have to listen to someone sing badly I rather they have a deeper voice.

I cannot put Maasa in the same category with Chinami/Sayu.

At least Maasa has a decent tone to her voice. Her solo stuff wasnt so bad for the fan club concerts thing.

Maasa has less control over her voice than Chinami and Sayu, though. That's kind of... hard to achieve

Maasa having a decent tone to her voice doesn't make her a good singer.

Maasa has the potential to become a much better singer because her singing voice is actually nice and strong. The biggest problem to me is that she's often off key. A little I can tolarate but she's off a lot.
Sayu comes a long way. Her starting point is the lowest of them all. Somehow I can enjoy her tone now.
The impression Chii gives me is that she still sing the same way when she was a kid.
Saki improves a lot. Her singing is usually on point. But she comes short sometimes, especially if giving longer lines, she can't sustain her voice. I enjoy her singing better than Yurina's.
Now Yurina and Maimi, their voices are just so flat. :fear: Somehow Maimi is better and more stable when singing live. But I'm still not a fan of their voice.

Damn this reminds me how good that Grand Demo Massa/Yurina song is, I wish tsunku gave it to someone else. Yurina's voice is just so unpleasant. I'm shuddering thinking about her attempting to sing a song like "ame" which maimi was actually able to pull off.

If she hasn't reached that in 10 years, I doubt she ever will.
Yes, Sayumi is still improving after 10+ years, but Sayumi has improved gradually all the time. Maasa... hasn't.

I feel like they have the exact same voice tbh. :fear: :mikihead:

But does she always sound like that? If so then yeah she has decent control. As opposed to someone like Zukki whose singing is better but all over the damn place. Maasa is consistently bad. I do enjoy her singing though. Halataion Summer and Grand Demo Yurina and Maasa are two of my favs.

I went to the Sunshine City event and watched the first and second performance, and I thought they were really good! I have never seen any H!P act live before but it made a great impact.
Miyabi look so gorgeous in her dark hair!

Also, seeing Risako and Maasa IRL made me realize that the camera really must add a few pounds.. I mean, of course they are bigger than the rest of the girls (especially Chinami) but they were a lot thinner than I expected.

An other surprise was how popular Momoko is.. you could easily tell looking at the pink t-shirts and glow sticks but mainly the chanting-parting really made it obvious.
