J=J ranking update:
1. Kanazawa Tomoko
2. Miyazaki Yuka
3. Miyamoto Karin
4. Uemura Akari
5. Ootsuka Aina
6. Takagi Sayuki

So it's finally happened. I have... officially oshihened from Karin to Tomoko. I still love Karin as much as I used to, it's just that I love Tomoko and Yuka more. They've completely won me over and stolen my heart. Both of them. Yuka probably shouldn't even be as high as she is, but there's something about her I just adore. I'm not sure what. As for Tomoko, she's basically perfect. She's beautiful and I could listen to her voice forever and ever. I never thought I would love her so much. In most other Kenshuusei units, Karin would've easily been my oshi. But not with Juice=Juice. Like I said, I haven't stopped loving her in any way -- I've just started loving the other two more than her. And I love Karin A LOT.

I'm pretty neutral about Aina and Akari. I like them both, sure, but they have yet to make much of an impact on me. I wouldn't want them out of the unit or anything, though.

As for Sayuki, I've been warming up to her a bit lately. I feel like she'll be forever at the bottom, but I certainly don't... dislike her that much anymore.

Honestly, they're a really solid group. As a unit, I love them all. I really can't wait for their debut and I hope it's amazing.

Mine. I think.
1. Miyazaki Yuka
2. Kanazawa Tomoko
3. Uemura Akari
4. Miyamoto Karin
5. Otsuka Aina
6. Takagi Sayuki

Yuka and Tomoko are pretty much tied. Akari is just one tiny step above Karin. Aina I'm pretty neutral about and Sayuki, while she's doing good losing minus points, she's still not a favorite and far from becoming one.

Logically, they're the better overall group its just weird. Must be a gaijin thing.

Late but, I prefer Berryz because they came first, and they will have a special place in my heart because of that. No matter how good and awesome C-ute gets, and lately I do enjoy their concerts more, but I'm simply a Berryz fan first.

When they first debuted from the H!PK, everyone hated them. Berryz essentially paved the way for C-ute to be successful, warming people up to the idea of kids groups. It was such an uphill battle for them, until they hit their stride with Koi no Juubaku and suddenly the hpk were acceptable to H!P fans.

For that alone, I will always love them more. Berryz breaking that initial ice, essentially made it a cakewalk for C-ute who already had more of the popular/more often used members of H!PK (air, maimi, megu, mai)

I don't think I'd ever be able to hold on a group like that... if I didn't like the music or the members as much. Which of course might not be an issue if you connect to them early on, but I even used to like Berryz a lot even if they weren't favorites but lately - except for Momoko and my Risako-bias - they're really bland personality-wise and their music is getting downgraded as well. Which sucks, but, seems like some people still like them and I guess that's all that matters lol.

Lol it is precisely that! I have connected with them early on, being there since the start, watching them grow and reach milestones, like special generation being their first hit, to being the youngest group at SSA, finally breaking 30k, and etc has just endeared them to me. Just because they've hit a rough patch recently doesn't mean I'm going to throw that all away and jump ship  This is their platinum era XD they'll pull thru.

The sad thing is that different from MM who has new members joining and to stir up things, Berryz have no gimmick what so ever. They got Momochi, which probably has helped a lot with exposure but... uh. Momochi can't carry the whole group so they need to step up in their game. Get a new manager or something could possibly help.

They mostly need singles that aren't boring. Really, let's try this, UFA, I promise it'll work. But no, I can already tell Chinatown Usotsuki will be followed by a "cool" "disco" "sexy" song and basically the whole group will look bored and miserable during the PV.

^^ They look bored not just in specific songs but for majority of the time during performances these days. Some of them, like Captain and Chinami, smile a lot, but when other people look bored you feel like the ones smiling are just faking it. With C-ute you kinda accept the Maimai bitch face because she's the only one doing it, and it's just her face; her singing and dancing still come out great. With Berryz, the boredom comes out everywhere lol, and maybe it's just a lot of bad choreography they have to put up with and it's not their fault.

Also, I feel like they really lack chemistry with each other. Some of it can't be helped, like height differences (but how about at least giving Yurina heels that aren't so high if they really want her to wear heels). There are lots of decent performers in the group, but I feel like each person is just doing her own thing and it doesn't feel like a group. I also feel that their voices are too different that they don't blend well together, except for Risako and Miyabi. I do like some of the individual girls, but as a group, not really anymore even though I'll obviously still follow them because I do like the songs and all.

Vocally, there are some that haven't improved very much from the beginning. With C-ute, you have Chisato that climbed up from being in the background and Saki & Mai that have improved a lot.

Also when some of them talk... I don't even understand Japanese and I can tell it's not entertaining lol.

Man, I miss this Berryz

Berryz' lack of symmetry and uniformity used to be one of their strengths and not one of their weaknesses. This is why it's important to give them songs that they can pull off - if they're singing Jingisukan and jumping around it's not such a big deal that they're not perfectly synced. Berryz is not a K-Pop-ish flawless group and at this point it's a given that they'll never be one. I agree that Inazuma Berryz was their absolute best era! They were being successful and getting good songs that they were good at, it's not hard to see why they were more passionate in my opinion.

Now they're in the shadow of Perfect Musume and Perfect C-ute being perfect at what they do, while they're forced to sing b-side quality stuff that they can't pull off to save their lives.
