She does look gorgeous. Uncharacteristically aloof, but gorgeous.

@sb: It has to be my bias but I thought Chinami did okay. It's Maasa the one who was like "bleh, let's get this done so I can leave" to me. Honestly this is why I think Berryz sucks at serious, lol.

I think some of it was Chinami as well. But I think she just does badly at things like this. She couldn't really get it in DIY either.

Chinami had two big issues in DIY. Maimi and Miyabi. Nakky and Haruna had that same problem. They just couldn't deal with the combination of Maimi's genetics and Miyabi's desire to tighten the male's pants. I mean I think the girl tried in that she was just out gunned. But I agree that this style of PV where you have to pretty much "charm" the camera isn't her deal. She got away with it in WANT! cause she looked damn good in it. I don't know... she's semi pulling a Risa to me where I didn't have expectations, then she gave me expectations, and now when she doesn't live up to them it becomes disappointing. And yea, Maasa is in that same boat too. Cause I know she can do better. It's just interesting that Captain puts it out there that Berryz wants to be a better group and then half of them go out there in their next PV looking like whatever. Step yo game up!

Chinami was great in both Be Genki and cha cha SING (even Loving You Too Much). Honestly everyone was, you really don't get "I don't want to be here" vibes from anyone in those PVs with the exception of Risako's perpetual low-key-ness. I knooooow it seems biased because it's the kind of stuff I want Berryz to do, but it's just so clear that they're better at songs/PVs like those. They're not C-ute, they really can't pull off "serious" to save their lives. Honestly C-ute never looks bored or lazy when they're supposed to be serious, you can see the difference between both groups.

Thing is though I used to bitch about how the non Airi members of C-ute were scared of the camera like there was an axe wielding demon behind it and yet you look at the Crazy whatever the hell PV and you got MaiMai trying to get peeps thrown in jail. And Maimi acting hot instead of just looking it. Nakky practically sexing the camera. Chisato not screwing things up, they grew up, they stepped up, they handled their business whereas some people in Berryz haven't. And I'm not gonna give them a free pass just cause it's not a happy song and they don't like not happy songs, fuck that noise. Complacentecy gets you where you are today, in both big and little sister's shadow. You are the Jan Brady of H!P. The one who bitches about their siblings and no one cares about.

Ironically I'm listening to WANT! right now.

Isn't that the thing, though? They -are- rather complacent in this video. C-ute being great at cool/sexy/serious isn't really making them step up their game because C-ute has been good at it since the days of Tokaikko Junjou. In which case, is it really that wrong that each group has its own strengths? Why do both C-ute and Berryz need to have the same style? I feel like they're literally being told to not smile because they're too old for it.

It's not that they're bored imo, it's that they don't know how to emote properly. It doesn't help that their musical style has whiplashed between happy, goofy and sexy so much. Once you establish a persona, it's tough to switch it out convincingly.Chinami at silly, like Cha Cha Cha, is awesome. Chinami as sexy, not as much.

Maybe it happened earlier, but I noticed it first in Aa, Yo ga Akeru. Holy clap, Chinami was NOT amused during that PV XD

I never noticed it at all but I don't pay much attention to Chinami anyway.
