Downton Abbey
Spoiler: show
Unfortunately both the actors who play Sybil and Matthew wanted off of the show. :( The latter made a big stink about it, as he didn't want to be remembered for only ever playing Matthew Crawley :/

Which characters do you find annoying Nayoko?

I did the same thing!

I hate that Sybil is gone though, I couldn't stop crying. The episode she died in I stopped after that because I was so upset. Cried the rest of the season basically, whenever Bransan is in a scene I just well up.

Williams was pretty hard on me too, he was one of my favorite characters. Poor Daisy too. :'(

I feel awful but Matthew's I saw coming (granted I did for the other too but I just hoped I was wrong) so I wasn't entirely upset. I don't think I even shed a tear, probably because I had cried for 3hrs straight one night.

Iron Man 3 had me shaking my fists, kept showing scenes with Sybil and Bransan.

Spoiler: show
yeah the same happened to me at the end of the season 3 christmas special for similar reason; i haven't been able to go back to the series yet. i cried like.. an entire night. because i identified mary & matthew as something that once happened to me, like, a relationship i once had, and i was like, look, they can be happy, it can happen, it doesn't always have to end like it did with you and then BAM IT DOES. fuck.

The way she died too, was just awful. I felt bad for everyone in the house after that - and hated the "specialist" doctor for his arrogance. I finally started to feel like Branson was fitting in with the family too, right before Matthew died. I think Matthew played a big part in that, so I hope it doesn't just send everything backwards.

I didn't see Matthew's coming at all! I expected the special to end on a really happy note, but they threw that in and boom. I ended up with a bad dream about it that night too, it left me with all these sad feelings carrying over into real life for a few hours after waking up.

I suppose I can understand wanting to go, especially if you had other conflicting projects lined up (I read it was originally going to be a 3 series show, but the popularity surprised everyone?).

I don't quite understand not wanting to be known for the character though? I had no idea who he even was before this, and it's not as if you're gauranteed to work on a show this liked again, or that you'll be able to make the transition into popular movies. I thought he played him well, so it'll be sad to not have him in the next season.

Thomas and Lady Rose annoy me, I wouldn't mind either of those characters leaving (though it has gotten better with Thomas in the third season). I know Rose has only been around for one episode and the special, but she's done nothing for me at all. Her parents can also just stay far away, dear lord they were grating.

I'm not sure why I don't like Thomas very much either. It's not his backhanded attitude, because I like Miss O'Brian just fine and she's attempted far worse things behind the backs of others. I appreciate the stories they can tell with his character and the difficulty of being gay at the time, but something about him just doesn't fit with me. Maybe it'll keep getting better when the new season starts?

Yeah, they were originally contracted to only do three series. Most British shows only contract for a few seasons at a time, though.

And yeah, Dan Stevens was kinda a nobody and now he'll be know as the guy that left Downton prematurely, lol. I liked Matthew, but there were rumors leading up to the Christmas Special that he was wanting off, so in a way I was prepared for it.

Prior to S3, it was known that at least person was going to die. So when learned the week prior to episode 5 that Sybil was giving birth and then her actress wasn't listed in the cast listing for episode 6 (revealed two weeks prior to its airing) we guessed she was dying. :( That softened the blow. I'd say she has a more promising future than Stevens, and she was more gracious about her departure.

I used to hate Thomas and O'Brien, but eventually I came to like Thomas a bit in S3 thanks to his character growth. I agree Rose is pretty annoying. I did like her helping Anna learn the dance for the ball (Anna's my favorite character). I think that they have potential to make Thomas' storyline good in the next season. Rose I'm afraid will seem shoehorned in, but we'll see.

It almost feels like Rose is supposed to somehow fill the void of Sybil, where they started with the three young girls/main females with one that was more outspoken and breaking down barriers. Now they're down to just two, and one of them will probably spend half of the next season in depression. I'll assume

I really hope the rest of my favorites stick around for a while longer at least. Daisy having the farm offer from William's father makes me nervous about her sticking around.

Game of Thrones

Spoiler: show
Starting to hate those scenes with Theon getting tortured even though we're not supposed to like the character, but it seems like that will go on for a while...? I looked up his book character quickly because I was curious.

For how I don't care much for what's happening Beyond the Wall, I really like Jon Snow and Ygritte a lot.

Yeah, the fandom was in an uproar thinking that Rose is supposed to "replace" Sybil. Edith in a way is also taking on Sybil's more "breaking tradition" qualities, with her newspaper column.

A handful of the actors (the ones that play Mary, Robert, Cora, Anna, and Bates) have been contracted through a fifth season, so most of us think that there will be two more seasons and it will be done. I really hope that we don't lose anymore of the original cast before then. I hoping with Daisy they are simply giving us a head's up about where she'll be headed after the show finishes.

It's complicated. What we're seeing now with Theon isn't actually revealed in the books until Book 5. This is another case of stuff getting moved around to make it work better in a television adaptation. There is a point to it, I promise, even though it's hard to tell when that point will finally come. Because stuff is getting moved around.

As for whether we're supposed to like Theon, I saw a comment elsewhere that Theon represents what happens when you wish horrible things on a person and your wish is granted.

Edith has slowly become my favorite of the sisters (through a combination of only having two to gravitate to, and her becoming a writer). I felt horrible for her when the one romantic relationship she fought for was snatched away from her at the worst moment ever.

It'd be sad to only have it go on for two more seasons (at least round it to a total 6!), but I guess we just have to enjoy it while it's still around.

Me too, damn doctor! I felt awful for Branson. T__T He was my favorite...I got super angry when the one maid became all flirtly flirty with him. Interested to see how the rest of the series plays out.

I think the reason Matthew's death didn't upset me at all was because he just wasn't one of my favorites. I liked him in the beginning but then he became kind of annoying? I don't know or it is because the amazing Branson came in and he instantly shot up to be my favorite.

@Mirai
Spoiler: show
I know T__T I wish she didn't want to leave. Sybil and Branson were my favorites.
I wonder if he will get any other roles. A lot of actors do that and then wind up regretting it I think because they don't ever get offered roles as good as the ones they left.

@Pav
Spoiler: show
I didn't think there would be so much crying! I went into work the next day to my coworker who also watches Downton and went "...WHYYY?!!!! T___T" "Oh you watched that episode huh?" *nod* "So upset!! I cried for hours!" "Oh blah blah(all I remember is she said she didn't cry! HOW COULD YOU NOT?!!!?)" Apparently season 4 will start a few months after the death I think.

Sooo who here is watching DWTS?
