after a lazy ass two month hiatus, Music Station returned today. they have combined the last week's releases and this week's releases for their Music Station ranking.

They put decided to Morning Musume at #5 because they are idiots and that makes total sense to them.

Really guys, I guess you'd have seen it by now? Music Station producers have a grudge against MM or they are influenced by AkiP/Dentsu/Whoever who wants them see fail.

I hardly see MM returning to Music Station again. NHK on the other hand, has been kind to MM in the past and they still feature them a lot in J-Melo and somewhat in Music Japan. Kouhaku depends on general popularity, not really sales, the group has to be well known, even if they don't release much. MM has a shot (albeit a low one) to return to Kouhaku, if they can keep this momentum going, I think they can do it this year. I really think they have a chance, UFP just has to do some smart management to put them on the radar again. As I see more news coverage than let's say, the past few years, I think they're on the right foot. Now they just need to double the efforts, and I think they can make it.

I think, whatever's the case, it's unprofessional if you don't invite a group because of anything other than their music and/or performance in the charts. A group doesn't even have to lord the charts to get invited in a music show as long as you're making waves. Even a daily number 1 can hypothetically make shows want to invite you much less a weekly number 1.

I understand if they didn't take notice when OTT broke the 100K sales barrier. They can justify that it might be a fluke. But this is the fourth straight single that performed very well and the second straight weekly number 1 at that. They could argue that there are other artists who performed better than them in the last 2 months, but the group is getting noticed again with tons of articles from different Japanese Entertainment news agencies. In short, everybody is taking notice, except Music Station, that is.
