If for nothing else, the fact that they write all their own music is pretty cool!

IIRC, they actually stated that as part of the reason for the name change. The other part was that it could "stand for" KOUMI, RUUNA, and MIMORI.

A San Francisco venue has FINALLY been announced! It's a free show :w00t: at Milk Bar on Haight Street on October 29th. I'M THERE!

God I hope that upside-down walk is in at least one performance.

Kirilola just posted this announcement, complete with pictures:

eX-Girl is back!

Their new site.

Aaaannnnd - it looks like they're going to SXSW, so a U.S. tour may be in the works at some point!

I think this is excellent timing - in a lot of ways (particularly with the alt/underground idol explosion), Jpop has caught up with eX-Girl. And maybe the rest of the world has, as well...

I spoke too soon. Guess when I have to go out of town for my aunt's funeral.

So my attempts to see both Shonen Knife and TsuShiMaMiRe have been thwarted this month. What will prevent me from seeing Morning Musume. '18 in Mexico City two weeks from now? Most likely scenario: The border is closed due to some "National Emergy" [sic]. I'm scheduled to leave right after Election Day, so God only knows what will happen.

Don't say that. (About Mexico) A very select few people know I'm going. I haven't told the other half because I'll get a lectures on the horrors of Mexico. (I have a slightly racist family.)

I enjoyed my trip to see ℃-ute in Mexico three years ago enormously, and I'm eagerly awaiting this one, researching places to go and how to get there, trying to get my Spanish up to a somewhat less awful level, etc. But I still have this gnawing dread that something will wreck it for me. That something need not be even remotely political: it could be illness, it could be weather, it could be a glitch in Ticketmaster's computer system. But I'm a compulsive worrier, so take my babbling with a grain of salt.

Do your homework and use common sense, and you'll be fine. I honestly don't recall feeling scared or uneasy walking anywhere in Mexico City. I can't say the same about places within five miles of my home.
