Having the auditionees perform "Uppercut" and "Survival Girls" back to back was rough. Though two girls that annoyed me in the first broadcast did win me over to varying degrees here, and a couple of favorites from the first broadcast ended up disappointing.

I was struck by how many of the girls exhibited something close to perfect pitch in their a cappella renditions of Upper Cut. Particularly when Kaji at 1:05:40 starts singing the song a cappella and then afterwards joins in with her recorder. That's very risky to do if you're not confident you will start exactly on the right pitch. Usually it's the other way around, you use an instrument to generate a reference tone, and then you know for sure your vocals will match the instrument.

If one of the reasons they're holding auditions is so that Konatsu can graduate, I will be annoyed. I don't care if she's almost 25. Hmph.

So tonight, the group announced their winners and performed a new song, "Flash"

- Yashikawa Mayu (Maachan) (吉川茉優)

What disappointing choices. I only kind of like two of them and they were both middle of the pack, the other two I didn't care about at all during the whole process. I hope they do something with some of the other girls, but I doubt it. I think most of my good luck in regards to auditions was used up with Kaga.

Hopefully they can prove me wrong.

Three out of the four, I understand why they were chosen (the last one in the bottom pic, I never really paid her any attention). But tbh none of these girls are particularly good looking and for better or worse, I think that's not a consideration that can be entirely overlooked as far as idols go. Especially when compared with the 1ki members.
