I loved Ann's first album. I didn't know she had some new songs out! They all sound really good so far.

Speaking of things I think sound really good, I've got a thing for Crush's new song:

Speaking of aiai...

The contrast between her speaking voice and her serious singing voice is amazing. Baby  .

I think she's at her best with intense performances -- the first time I saw that clip, I thought that she was trying too hard to put emotion into it (largely, I think, because i'm used to Nakamori Akina's beautifully world-weary live version from a few years ago), but Aiai's crazed intensity has an integrity of its own, which comes through strongly in this performance. (I can feel myself slipping into an "Aiai can do no wrong" state of mind, which is probably one step away from out-and-out insanity :fear: )

But her speaking voice (and manner) She not only talks like a five-year-old, but she tends to act like one -- it wouldn't surprise me to find out that she's somewhere on this list.

Aiai in full five-year-old mode... :fear:

I love idols who have unexpected voices tbh. Another one is JKT48's Sonia Natalia, who looks like she should sound like she's about 10:

(She's the one in the white bathrobe/pyjama thing.)

OTOH, some of my oshis have voices so cute they could melt hearts:

When it comes to female jpop singers, I find myself liking a mix of squeaky-voiced and more adult-sounding performers. Sonia Natalia's voice sounds like it's very suited to old-school, 80s-style Jpop, which is always a good thing.

^ Yui has released two solo singles--both of them are outros to anime she voice-acted in. Despite those solo releases, YuiKaori are still going strong together. Their first live DVD came out in early October, and they have a new single set to release in January. ^^ In a lot of ways, YuiKaori fill the void in my brainspace left by W. :xmas:
