Both sites (Wota In Translation & Wolves & Morning Musume) translate funnier, more well natured 2ch threads (unlike takamaruyo) and skip out on the hate.
The author of W & MM (native Japanese) is even looking for funny/positive Oda and Zukki threads (few and far between apparently).

I think it offers an interesting perspective into the Japanese fanbase. Keeping in mind that 2ch does not represent the entire Japanese fanbase. Much like how H!O, JPLOP, JPH!P,.. do not represent the entire English speaking fanbase.

While I agree, it's way more likely that an international fan is a member on whatever forum. 2ch really is a small percentage. H!O/JPLOP/W/E holds quite a high percentage of the international fandom I'd say.

Only if you count the English speakers (like I did). There are large quantities of French, Dutch, Mexican, Singapore,... fans who all have their own forums.

There are plenty of Spanish speaking (our native tongue) fans in my country who can't spell a word in English, and they don't even go to spanish forums for that matter, they just get together, do video projection events and the like, they just use the internet for info and for gathering videos. So they don't go anywhere near these forums, except the H!O tracker

I guess it's the same all over the world, specially in developing countries. Not everybody can speak English around here, believe it or not.
So we can't ever really know if these forums are representative. Maybe for the English-speaking fans... I can't really know

I always thought everyone in the international fandom was part of a forum too but when I actually went to some H!P cons and such, an awful lot of people I met said they weren't part of any forum. I think we on our forums just never hear from the people who don't go to forums, so we aren't aware of how many there actually are

I don't think everyone is. But I think the % of those who ARE part of SOME forum in the international fandom definitely is more than those that aren't. Which definitely isn't the case for 2ch and Japanese fans.

I think everyone here understands 2ch doesn't represent the majority of the fans, doesn't make them any less funny. You aren't forced to read it if you don't want to.
