To begin with, I'm not sure if Aruiteru is what people would call a generic idol song. Generic ballad song maybe, but it's not very idol-y imo. Also Aruiteru is Sayu's absolute favorite MM song ever. If every generic idol is like her my world would be so much brighter, law of diminishing returns be damned

Fukuhime does tend to be(or just looked) more subdued/subtle than what is usually considered to be the generic energetic idol (yay! yay!-ing everywhere, not that that's a bad thing) and some of her favorite songs or the ones she would choose to sing might reflect that but that quality of hers is part of what draws me into becoming her fan in the first place. It helps a lot that she when the occasion calls for it she's usually eloquent enough when she had to answer interview questions and quirky enough to keep me interested instead of shirking away or fading into the background.

If Sayu had sang Aruiteru solo before, maybe someone can put the audio over the Lalala no Pipipi MV XD

She did for Nine Smile, if I'm not mistaken. Everyone joined her in the end though.

Would anyone be willing to summarize the reasons given in the "Waratte Iitomo" video? (Just for Morning Musume, Momoko, and Ayaka.)

Mizuki's Aruiteru was... bland. Not bad, just bland.

But this is a super cool idea and I hope all the girls get to do solos.

Can Aruiteru be any more bland? I haven't watched it because I don't like that song AT ALL but if it's worse Mizuki is some otherworldly beast capable of feats beyond the impossible and must be dealt with lest she lay destruction and death in her wake for untold millennia.

I totally agree.

Aruiteru as a song is already bland. I think the only way that Mizuki's version is any blander is because it's only her voice whereas with the original at least here was a little bit of variation.

Yeah, Aruiteru is a extremely boring and plain song (my opinion ofc ), but the way Fukuchan sang it, it was actually soothing, and I could listen to it a couple more times without being annoyed (thank god Koharu isn't there ruining the song completely XD)
