True XD. I've always liked her voice, though.

Back in 2002, when I first learnt of MM。, Risa was my second favourite (my first was Konkon). I didn't pay much attention to them until... 2005 or and I stopped caring about Risa as much, lol. I've always been a Risa fan in some form though.

Also should we expect Chinese, Korean, and Spanish next? Maybe Thai?

Haruna's french was about as a good as Masaki's English, maybe ever so slightly better. Still pretty incomprehensible without the subtitles lol.

^I asked another guy who knows French and he said he understood Chokubo just fine and thinks that subtitles are not needed. I didn't ask if he was French XD

I think Gaki got popular because of the gakikame corner on hm@, but losing those she lost her popularity too.

I always thought she sang really well. Her solo part in Do It Now is what made me start liking her when I was getting into Morning Musume.

There were times early on when she sounded good (and you could always tell that she had potential), but she didn't become Officially Good™ (lol) until much later. But your standards might be different than mine.

It's weird because when Risa joined Tsunku said she shined during the recording, but then she wasn't really praised for her vocal ability afterwards. To be fair she joined when there were a lot of Senpai in the group and by the time they started to graduate there was Mikitty Aichan and Reina ready to be the power vocalists. Although I wonder if Tsunku doesn't prefer the deeper voiced girls as front singers and prefers them as 2nd tier to balance the main singers or something?

Then there is the fact that she wasn't as popular. I watched the audition and I know Aichan shone the most with maybe Ogawa and KonKon next (Ogawa was in the audition the obvious best and KonKon the worst but Tsunku seemed to see something in her and she was added anyway) Aichan won for the most improved being that I remember her being lectured and crying but then practicing harder than everyone and coming back stronger for it. That's why I fell in love with her  Risa was like a random addition it seemed. She also had this baby face and looked young for the longest time. Even the rookies who were not much older when they joined looked more mature when they were added. Risa eventually blossomed into a beautiful woman but that wasn't until Yossi became leader. I think that's why she wasn't popular. From the day she was added she seemed to be lost in the sea of girls, falling easily to the back.

Risa wasn't popular and had this horrible habit (That Zukki once had and Haruna has now) of sounding like she was talk-singing. She didn't get rid of it for a long while either. I would say she started getting REALLY REALLY good during Ribon no Kishi, and I noticed she started getting more lines around that time as well. But yeah, Risa has never been POPULAR. Well, she was when she announced she was graduating, she was really popular for those few months. The most popular member of 5th gen was Konkon, I'd put Risa at dead last for awhile there (Though I think she moved past Makoto eventually). Hell I didn't even notice her (or care lol) till Vanessa moved in and was like "RISA IS GREAT YOU SHOULD PAY ATTENTION". And I did. And she is in fact great :P
