lol It's true though. If they had different, more hip hop-y dances she'd probably throw down. As far as dancing to Morning Musume songs...she isn't really outshining anyone except the really awkward/bad dancers. Also she's one of the lead singers. Tsunku won't put her in the background for like Resonant Blue and let her show off her dancing she'll be in front just kind of moving to the beat.

Riho can dance. Riho and Ayumi are the two best dancers among the Kyukkies and Jyukkies and you can't take that from her.
Riho had alot of love coming out of the 9th gen audition and had she been shoved in the back in favor of more Ai/Reina time then everyone would still love her. Its really all too predictable.

Riho and Ayumi are known for their dancing yes but Mizuki dances to the choreography as well as them. In a free style they'd probably kill her but that's not what's happening. I didn't say that Riho can't dance AT ALL. I'm saying that when she performs Love Machine she's not out performing Haruka or Mizuki or Eripon.

And I definitely disagree with your last statement. The people that tend to be more popular are the ones that they push anyway. Tsunku as far as I can tell makes up his mind about these things rather early and usually doesn't change until he has to. Risa was a fantastic singer in Morning Musume for years but didn't start using her until he really had to. Just look at AKB the most popular members are the ones that Aki-P has pretty much always used.

She was plain, boring and didn't stand out in anyway. She wasn't obviously a good singer or dancer.

That's because you obviously weren't paying attention probably because you had already decided she sucked and you didn't like her. She was pretty feisty and competitive and I think the 9th and 10th gen members mentioned that she was pretty strict/scary. She's not completely lacking in personality like people pretend she is.
Now I agree her singing and dancing weren't stand out but she did fine. Look at any Platinum era dance shot and she's keeping up with everyone just fine.
Typically with Aika people already had this idea about her and never saw anything else but "not Kikka".

Not the idol way but she was.
Her voice required a special song to sound nice.

I love Aika and I love Koharu. It's always misunderstood when I critize them. I personally don't think Aika stood out much. Although I liked her personality and though she was cute in her own way. I never even watched the 8th gen audition so unlike most people I'm not developing that opinion because I liked Kikka or Sumire. That's just my personal opinion developed apart from everyone else's so you can't say it's because of he audition that I feel that way about Aika's singing and dancing. Some of them have different strengths and weaknesses I don't see a problem with that. Just because I think someone is weaker or stronger doesn't mean I'm fangirling or spreading hate.
