I thought Riho was. This is actually the performance that made me highly critical of her dancing talent.

lol maybe we're seeing two different videos? There is a rhythm, a constant beat that keeps Takahashi and Riho sensing the music, and moving, with their entire bodies, the whole time. Risa just hits the poses and moves her arms, c'mon now. Watch her during the down time, she's just cheesing and posing. Then watch Taka during the downtime between moves, she's still going along to the beat, and when her arms move, it's not just her arms, it's her whole body. Riho too.

I mean, I guess Risa's come a bit since her audition days, she didn't really stand out at all then, and I was surprised as hell they picked her (well, Konno too. I was rooting for Kayou lol) but in that live? no way was Riho weaker than her lol. Where is Delerium when I need him to back me up on my anti-(1/4th of)5th-gen sentiments hahaha.

Re-the song:

Though the arranger has had some better tracks (Icha Icha Summer by GAM? Amahzing) this song is pretty... lackluster. It doesn't grab you and make you want to listen to it repeatedly in the way that One Two Three does. I'm sure it'll be fun during lives, but I'm gonna need a PV or something before it can have more of an opportunity to grow on me.

How lovely for you.

I'm not comparing her or Riho really to Ai, she's shitting on both of them but Riho's dancing always looks really really spastic. And that's a horrible word for it because that's how I describe Koharu's dancing and they're not similar at all.

But yeah, she's certainly energetic and I'm sure in her own element with something more hip hop-y she'd really shine but as far as her dancing to Morning Musume's choreography I don't see her being miles ahead like some people do apparently.

Riho's a really good technical dancer. She's a little young to have that personal flair that Ai or Risa have (Which, for Risa, masks her somewhat unskilled dancing). Give her some time and she'll put her own little spin on things and be great.

I'm a professional dancer and have been teaching dance for years and also the biggest Gaki fan on this damn planet and Riho is by far the best dancer MM ever had, and Gaki, while okay/good is nowhere close to Aichan or Riho.

How inspirational that an obviously blind individual can go on to achieve their dreams of being a dance instructor. :shifty:

Why all the Matenrou hate? If this was released first, you'd all be hot balls over it. Just because One Two Three is so amazingly epic, doesn't take away the above-average-ness of this single track.

Agreed. Matenrou is leagues above Kono Chikyuu and Kare to Issho, for example. Combined

Nayoko-Kihara wrote:^ Out of curiosity, what do you think of Ayumi's dancing from what you've been able to see so far?

I think she is good and has potential but needs polish. There are often little things she does that tick me off, like how her head won't be bent down exactly as it should or stuff like that. Overall though she is a strong dancer, no doubt about that. I'm sort of on the fence because in some videos she's extremely good and in others she's sorta "eh" so I'm confused about what her issues are. I still think Riho is a much better dancer than her (and for cause, Riho has a lot more training, which explains a lot). Man! It is extremely hard for me to talk about dance in writing! It's certainly not something I do really often.

And Dan, was that really necessary?

WHAAAAAAAAAT?
Disagreed. But we can agree to disagree

Granted Kono Chikyuu isn't great but I personally like it better than Matenrou (the first time I listened to it though I actually thought they recycled Kono Chikyuu's instrumental for it....) and I think Kare to Issho was a great song for Tsunku to show what MM. could do without Ai-chan.

As of recent tracks...

One Two Three>>>>>>>Renai Hunter>>Matenrou>/=Pyoko Pyoko.

And since 10th gen has joined this is the third single (third and fourth a-sides), is there an album in our horizon? Colorful 13? 13 Character? Colorful Character 13? (I'm just guessing based on the fall tour title...) I gotta give it to Tsunku, he's pretty genius with his word plays.

The single overall is VERY STRONG. The Matenrou Show is a strong song, just not as strong as OTT. Though it's one of the strongest songs in Tsunku's style of choice (Disco :P). It's right up there with Egao Yes Nude.
