Thanks, same to everyone. We ate out at a homey Irish tavern that my cousin suggested so she could conveniently hang out at the bar after the meal with her fellow regulars -- didn't really have any leftovers. The food was good though, a prix fixe menu with either a turkey or salmon entree. I'm indifferent when it comes to turkey, so salmon with light brown gravy for me, plus various mashed veggies, salad, and pumpkin pie.

My family went back to our own "tradition" of BBQ ribs for Thanksgiving. :fear: Roasted sweet potatoes, mixed southern greens, mac and cheese, and pineapple casserole for sides. Pineapple casserole sounds weird but it was actually pretty tasty.

I made Dutch apple dumplings with butterscotch sauce for dessert the next day! The butterscotch was the easy part, lol.

Some friends of mine hosted Thanksgiving dinner at their house in Berkeley, so I was there with the usual suspects — minus one, who was out of town. It was your typical turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie, plus an assortment of other appetizers, sides, and desserts. I boosted the selection of sides by bringing corn (with and without diced green chiles) and my spicy apricot ginger glazed carrots. For the appetizer table I brought some dolmas (yalanchi sarma, as my kinfolk call 'em), which are a staple of my Armenian relatives' holiday gatherings.

I went to see my friend up around Homer, Alaska. I flew home with two big containers of leftovers. They opened my luggage to check it, and I was like, can you tape it all back so they don't spill all over my things?

The mountains are very pretty in Alaska. I mean, all the tallest mountains in North America are up there. Also, I didn't realize there were communities of Russian Old Believers around the Kenai Peninsula.

Congrats on Japan on moving on to the next stage of the World Cup. They beat two of the toughest teams in the World, Germany and Spain. They never gave up.

I’m happy South Korea made it to the next round too because I cheer for all Asian teams.

Sad about Germany but at least Croatia made it, so one of my top two are still in.

I guess I've been too distracted to really follow thee World Cup, but I hope that a worthy team wins!

I don't like being that way - I'd rather sit down, relax, and enjoy both new experiences and old. I'ts at least halfway (more like 75%+) my own fault - at this point, I should have better strategies for managing my ADHD, but it always feels like a continual (and generally improvised) battle to give some kind of basic structure to chaos.

We won't be gone for months still but by some insane miracle (and with some help from my sister's in-laws) my parents managed to get a house right across the street from my sister. I hate literally everything about the house aside from one window, but I'm happy to see them get to be so happy about it.

Aside that I've decided I hate packing, it's so time consuming. Ruined my routine even further and I can't seem to find a good rhythm that still lets me keep up with everything I was trying to get back on track with.

Japan lost to Croatia but they played phenomenally until the very end. The match was so energetic until the very end.

I would be happy with either winning, but I knew I wanted Croatia to win a little more though.
