^ Not to mention the home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. I know people who travel to Ashland just for that.

Yes, definitely. The only time I had come here previous to this year was way back in college when I had a 1 credit course that included driving up to see a Shakespeare play in Ashland!
It's for sure a huge tourism draw. A ton of downtown stores and restaurants are named after plays/characters.

Congrats on the move! As an old Japanese friend used to say, sounds like a ween ween! If you don't mind me asking, did you need to find new work in Ashland, or are you able to work remotely?

Husband is working remotely for the company he's been with from the Seattle-area. I'm in a period of transition, as they say.

Will probably try to find some office work around town, also intending to get back into art stuff.

I’m in Montreal and Quebec City until Friday. It’s so pretty here and honestly feels more diverse than most cities in the U.S.
Also because of The Rings of Power I ordered a bunch of Lord of the Rings book (used) for when I have two weeks off for winter break and can’t afford to travel anywhere.

^ I toyed with the idea of going to Montreal for the Universala Kongreso de Esperanto in August, but I couldn't really manage to do it on top of my other summertime commitments.
I've got a bunch of Tolkien scholarship sitting here, waiting to be read. (
Not because of
The Rings of Power!

) I've almost finished reading an essay collection entitled
Reconsidering Tolkien, which I picked up for $2 this summer, and I'm about to start
Tolkien: A Cultural Phenomenon by Brian Rosebury, another recent $2 acquisition. More importantly, just this past week I got the gorgeous exhibition catalog of
J.R.R. Tolkien: The Art of the Manuscript at the Haggerty Museum of Art at Marquette University, as well as
The Great Tales Never End: Essays in Memory of Christopher Tolkien, which contains contributions by several top Tolkien scholars, including some of my friends.

I'd like to go to Montreal just to experience actual
seasons!

Speaking of JPlop/JPM history, I’m meeting up with pavlova. We talk on an almost daily basis anyway, though I haven’t seen her since NYC 2014.
