My favorite non Marvel/DC comic/manga as a kid was an old strip I came across in compiled volume form, called Pogo. It was like a 1950s Doonesbury Winnie-the-Pooh Mashup. It had some political undertones, but took place in a fictional swamp populated by talking animals.

I liked Pogo a lot too. It was in our newspaper when growing up. Whenever I think of Pogo though I think of Poco (which originally were named Pogo but had to change their name).

Now on a serious note.
"go time"
Urban Dictionary: When the time has arrived to undertake a task (often unseemly, difficult, or requiring courage), at which point there is no going back.
I need to share this info with you since “go time” can occur at any time and any place be it at a concert, school, mall, store, church, public transportation, or on the street.
I hope that we are never involved in a “go time” situation.

According to a Google image search, that is most likely Shirley Temple Burns, boinsie's great grandmother, being pestered by one of the prior incarnations of rikkikow who, as 14th century legend has it, was passing off spoiled cow's milk as reconstituted powdered egg whites in a market in Nether Wallop, Hampshire, causing the so-called Egg-Breath'd Hiccoughing Grippe of 1363. For his sin he was cursed by a witch and forced to be reborn alternatively as a bedraggled bird or a bizarre bipedal bovine (sometimes both), over and over, for all eternity.

Two weeks ago, I went to the Mythopoeic Society's annual conference, as I do almost every year. This year it was in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and the Sunday evening banquet was (IMHO) the best Mythcon banquet ever. Why? Because they had beef enchiladas with red chile and chicken enchiladas with green chile. (There were also vegan and non-spicy alternatives in the buffet.) And since people were encouraged to take the leftovers, I also had a yummy lunch at the airport the next day.
