Speaking of drains, last night, the kitchen sink and the front bathroom sink both quit draining, so I ran the snake down the bathroom sink drain, which unblocked both of them. It worked (the power snakes that are available now are actually pretty good), but the whole process is still pretty disgusting. :puke:  :puke:

Whatever my YouTube algorithm is doing, it's doing it right, because it just recommended this mind-blowing segment from the Merv Griffin Show to me.

I never paid much attention to Nina Hagen growing up...don't think I've ever seen her in an interview before. I guess I assumed she had more of a hardcore personality (I think in my head she was interchangeable with Wendy O Williams) but in that interview anyway she comes off more like the missing link between Shirley MacLaine and Willow (Smith). That's probably a fair comparison. Wendy O. Williams had a very different sort of theatricality; I can't imagine Nina Hagen being destructive in that way, with chainsaws, explosives, etc. Nina is far more talented (IMHO) and definitely more woo-woo. Her 1988 autobiography, Ich bin ein Berliner, has more about St. Michael the Archangel and UFOs in it than your typical rock memoir.

When I saw Nina on the Revolution Ballroom tour in 1994, she handed out fresh fruit and lollipops to people in the front row. I got a banana, and I still have the dehydrated peel. It's probably loaded with extra magical and hallucinogenic properties from having been touched by her.

Do you spill grease / oil / fats / rice / pasta etc. down the drain? Same with hair (i.e. shaving). Those all tend to clump up and cause drain blockages.

I do wind up pouring a fair amount of olive oil down the kitchen sink drain (just from pouring the excess off of whatever I'm cooking), but this is the first time it's backed up in about five (or maybe ten) years - if I have to snake it out occasionally, that's not too bad. The bathroom sinks back up more often than that, which may be a case of bad design (since I'm the only one who shaves very often, and I use an electric razor), but they're generally easy to snake out. It's an older house, and I had the main line from the house to the sewer replaced about two years ago (the pipes had collapsed and were full of dirt and roots) -I've generally lived in older houses, and plumbing / wiring problems pretty much come with the territory.

A friend of mine told me about, Kotoba Asobou, a Japanese version of Wordle!

https://taximanli.github.io/kotobaasobou/

In some ways it's conceptually harder than the English version because there aren't any mandatory sets of characters like AEIOUY that are guaranteed to appear.

But I did manage to guess today's answer
