My sister and her entire family refused to get vaccinated. My mother, my father, me, friends, we all tried but they wanna do their thing so be it. At some point just gotta let them go and be stupid. Because there’s no talking to a brick wall. At ONE point I thought I had my sister. She signed up for the vaccine but never followed through. Whatever rabbit hole her husband pulled her down is downright toxic.

I don’t wish sickness on them but something, anything to kick them in the ass would be nice.

I myself have stopped wearing a mask after the state of emergency was lifted in the state. Overall our state is doing better than expected but I am worried about the new strain. So if I’m in super large crowds I’ll continue to wear one.

The march toward masklessness is progressing more slowly around here. Masks are still required on public transit, and I still have to wear a mask at work, too, though I can remove it if I'm the only person in the room. Some businesses still require you to wear a mask, some only if you're not fully vaccinated, though none of them are actually checking vaccination status. I'm generally unmasked when I'm outside, but roughly half of the people I see on the street are still wearing them.

Some eating places still haven't resumed indoor dining, and two of the nearby movie theaters are still closed. But at those that are open, I can now freely choose my seat and enjoy the film without a mask. Live music venues have started to reopen, but I haven't gone to one yet. (The next show that interests me is still about a month away.)

^ Sounds similar to the way things are in NYC. Lots of people without masks, but public transportation and lots of stores still require them. The infection rate has gone way down recently so I think it's only a matter of time before those few restrictions are lifted. We just had a huge sold out Foo Fighters concert in Madison Square Garden where masks were not required but proof of vaccination was.

I take walks around my rural neighborhood maskless. Aside from that, I'm mostly only going out to get groceries once a week. Definitely still masking for that (I go to three stores early in the morning: Local co-op=almost entirely masked; Target=75% masked? mostly employees unmasking; Trader Joe's=almost no one was masked this week. Kinda unnerving, because two weeks prior almost everyone was masked there lol).
Oh! Last weekend I did go to Southcenter Mall for a little walk and to eat at a restaurant for the first time since Feb 2020. Despite there being no enforcement aside from a sign at the entrance, I would say mall patrons were 95% masked.

Unrelated-related: Next month we're driving down to California to visit family for the first time since Christmas 2019!! :w00t:

Alabama had a mask mandate here until April 9th. Not that it mattered one way or another; people didn't wear 'em when it was still in effect, and it wasn't exactly enforced.
Since the big announcement from the CDC, I've seen maybe less than a handful of people wearing masks when I've been to the store or wherever. The demographics of who does wear a mask are not very surprising tbh.

We're the 2nd worst state for vaccination rates: only 32% are fully vaccinated. So going anywhere without a mask isn't even something I'll consider. Fwiw I haven't been sick at all since I started wearing them, lol.

Here I see about everyone wearing a mask in stores even when it’s not required for vaccinated individuals. I think the general rule here is to do what everyone else is doing since you don’t want to look like the one asshole not wearing a mask.

I’m planning a trip to somewhere in Europe in August since I’m making extra money teaching summer school plus I still get a bonus “Covid pay” each day for working in the building. Oh, I’ll be in NYC for July 4th weekend. First time being there when it’s warm.

Even without Covid-19, I feel like a can't really get away for more than a day or so (too much crap to take care of, and too many people who depend on me), but there's more than enough going on in Southern California to keep me occupied, so that's OK, at least for now. Still, it would be nice to do more...

Everyone dropped masks in stores here a couple weeks ago. Restaurants a bit before that though capacity was limited, and now full capacity and masks nonexistent. Had an appointment at a law firm the other day with my dad where everyone was maskless. Met up with a coworker at the office yesterday maskless, even though technically we're still supposed to wear them in buildings on campus (though only through July 31). Most people pretty much realize there's no point fighting a now nonexistent battle.

Still masking and keeping up other measures here. My parents have pre-existing conditions and one has a crap immune system, and I want to lower chances that I accidentally pass something on to others. The only thing that's changed is my dad started going back to church on Sunday two weeks after his final vaccine (on the condition he continue to mask, sanitize, sit away from people, etc). Thankfully the congregation is small.
