Massachusetts get a notice in the mail for a set date we have for being called for Jury. We have the ability to change the courthouse we want if the one they pick for us is inconvenient for us. If there’s no case we either get a letter or a phone call before the date and get thrown back into the Jury lottery. If you get placed on a case lasting at least a day, you get like, the next 3-5 years off? I forgot. But you can still be called for federal court. If you get on a trial that lasts more than 2 days, you can get a pass on federal jury too.

I’ve only ever been on a case once and it lasted three days. I’ve also gotten the notice three times. But I learned to pick the courthouses that generally get fewer cases so I never have to go. The big court house is not super easy to get to so I try my very best to avoid ever going there. I’m already stressed enough, I don’t need additional stress.

Ended up being selected as a juror so I was at the court house from Monday to Thursday. It’s over now so I can say that it was such a DC case of someone going up to a Secret Service officer by the White House with a threatening package for the President. Not his first run-in with the Secret Service. It never came up in the trial but I looked it up on my own later and found out that he had serious mental illnesses.

Only went to work one day this week on Friday and now it’s a long weekend.

It was all the more welcome since the trend has been to discontinue things that I like. No more sweet chili sauce at McDonald's, no more roast beef at Subway, no more cajun rice at Popeye's....

THANK YOU, BTS! Sweet chili sauce is back for a limited time in the BTS Meal! The cajun sauce sounds good, too; I wonder how different it is from their usual hot mustard, which is my other preferred dipping sauce. (I'll find out soon enough.)

I've been dealing with weird rush jobs/emergencies for work during the last 48 hours or so (with maybe six hours of decent sleep during that time), including the mysterious disapearance of not one, but two important web sites (they were actually deleted from the directory on the hosting site). The just-too-cool marketing dude who I think was probably responsible (and didn't bother to tell anyone / claimed at first that it must have been hackers) did wind up restoring them (slowwwwly), but I've been cleaning up and repairing things for most of the day, and I've got more cleanup in the morning. This is the third time he's managed to knock those sites offline. Most of our marketing people don't last (we've gone for years at a stretch with nobody in marketing, which is probably OK in our niche) - this guy apparently talks a good line of BS, but it should be possible to go around being a professional manure spreader without actually wiping out important elements of business infrastructure.
