In Japan at least we don't have to pay for it. That'd be a little unfair I think . Anyway, because so many commute to work by train here (me included) a late train can and will make you late, and being late to work in Japan is about ten times worse than being late in America. Official apologies are required to be issued to your boss, if not more people.

The pass though is your ticket out of losing face. It's the OBVIOUSLY THIS ISN'T YOUR FAULT pass.

I've heard of this before! I think if the train is delayed for more than 10 minutes you get the pass?

And not only can it screw up making you late for work, it can potentially ruin your plans for the rest of the day, too. And if it's late enough I guess you can miss a connection as well.

I assume it's not very common to be delayed that much by trains in Japan, especially not bullet trains, but given how rigid they are about being on time to things (which is how it should be everywhere tbh), it makes sense to have an "I swear I didn't fuck up!" pass.

Probably depends on the trainline, but for Yamanote in Tokyo you get them rather frequently. Especially in the morning and, you'd be surprised by how often the trains are delayed. Many, many accidents (and "accidents" >>) happen over here causing trains to be 5-15 minutes delayed.

today in Shibuya during the day and night, they played CMs for Seishun kozou ga naiteiru. The CMs were close-up versions of 9th gen, including a Suzuki Kanon version. only 9th gen versions were seen today.
